Description

The arctic fox, or Alopex lagopus, is a small species of fox that can be found in cold arctic areas in the North, such as Greenland, Iceland, and Canada. It is similar to other foxes, except that it has shorter, more rounded ears, and its muzzle is shorter and broader. There are two prominent coat colors - white and light blue. In summer, the arctic fox's coat is thin and brownish-gray.

It has adapted to its cold habitat in many ways. It has very thick, deep fur that helps trap in heat. Its paws are much furrier than those of other species of fox. It has a large amount of body fat, and its body shape is more rounded. Due to its rounded shape, there is less surface area exposed to the cold. This is especially true due to short legs and small ears.
